ODESKÁ MLÝNICE 2026

12/05/2026

The second long weekend in May seemed like the perfect time for a trip to the Oderské vrchy hills, where, as it happened, the second race in the Kolo pro Život series, the Oderská Mlýnice, was taking place.

Already on Thursday evening, we parked at https://www.heipark.cz/stellplatz in the area where the race would start on Saturday. So on Friday, we had time to calmly ride the "C" route and then relax for a bit. The only thing spoiling it a bit is the weather, because it's not very warm up here in the hills and a cold wind is blowing. That evening, Pavel was a bit thrown off by his "high" start number; he'd expected to be among the top ten on Route B. Oh well, with his current form, it won't be long before he gets there.

On Saturday, the "B" route starts first; Pavel Šorf is in the leading group for the first few kilometers and is even second at the split time! On the "C" route, we have two contenders. At the first checkpoint, where Ondra is cheering, Klára and Kawas are holding onto medal positions, but at the second, Kawas drops out after a mechanical issue. Terrible luck, because he was on his way to the podium. Sometimes sports are just cruel. At the finish line, which is on a hill on the ski slope, we're already waiting for the first racers amid loud cheering. Pavel Šorf lost a bit of ground just before the finish and missed the podium by a hair; he finished 4th in his category and 6th overall. He was a little disappointed, because he was just 7 seconds short of third place! But he took the lead in the series standings, so that's great. And then we waited for Klára Tomsová, who finished 2nd in her category and 4th overall among the women! Klára also solidified her lead in the series with this result... And the following weekend, we also had the chance to take photos at the awards ceremony.

But we mustn't forget Daniel Varga, who headed to Harrachov for a tough Prima Cup race and finished 27th in his category!
