MALEVIL CUP 2026

15/06/2026

Our race in Jablonné v Podještědí, practically our home race, is one of the most prestigious marathons in the Czech Republic. It is the only one included in the UCI international calendar, and this year it was part of the Czech XCM Cup series.

Our team had three horses in the race on Saturday: Daniel Varga on the 50 km course, Jakub Šorf on the shortest 30 km course, and Pavel Šorf and Zbyněk Růžička, who set out to defend last year's victory in the pairs race on the premier 100 km course. Although Zbyněk has turned down our team's offer, he and Pavel form a well-coordinated duo that has already won not only last year's race but also, for example, the Drásal in Holešov, so expectations were high.

The 100-kilometer race was the first to start, at 8:30 a.m. from the square in Jablonné, along with the support team tasked with handing out water bottles and refreshments at several stations in the Czech Republic and Germany.

Throughout the morning, we naturally kept an eye on the results from the other courses. Jakub Šorf finished with an excellent 4th place in his category and 11th overall!

Pavel and Zbyněk stayed at the front of the race from the start; at the 24-kilometer mark, Pavel was even in the lead, but at that stage, it wasn't decisive yet. It wasn't until the top of the final tough climb to Luž that we breathed a little sigh of relief when the guys held onto the lead in the pairs category. At the finish line, we had a great reason to celebrate: Pavel Šorf and Zbyněk Růžička defended their first-place finish and even beat several "elite" riders!

Daniel finished 63rd on the tough course, which isn't bad at all for Malevil!
