BIKEMARATON BEROUN - BIKE FOR LIFE
After the winter break, we're gathering this Friday in the beautiful setting of the campground by the Berounka River, where the first race of the Kolo pro život series took place. The sunny weather is on our side, and the town square is just a few steps away, so we're looking forward to Saturday and hoping that our test results and the kilometers we've logged in training will pay off.
First to line up at the start are Pavel Šorf and Dušan Pressl for the B race. Pavel, wearing number 41, is right in the first lane, where he can watch an interview with his namesake, Pavel Bittner, from the professional Picnic PostNL team, who lives near Beroun and is preparing for his next start in the Tour de France.
At 11:30, the C course starts, featuring Klára, Kawase, and David, along with the team support crew and fans, of course.
After the start of the B route, Ondra heads up the hill to take a few photos and cheer on the riders. On the second lap, Pavel is holding around 10th place among the elite—great! He manages to support Kawase, Klára, and David on the next two laps and keep track of the standings. At the last checkpoint, he's already shouting at Klára, "Go for it, you're first overall!"
Meanwhile, the rest of the team watches the fastest riders finish the long course at the finish line, and Pavel held on! 10th place overall and 7th in his category—Pavel Šorf confirms his performance and rightfully ranks among the best.
We're all watching the C-category finish together now: Martin "Kawas" Kavalír, after a fantastic performance in the highly competitive Category 11, and Klára Tomsová maintained her lead to win the women's overall title! Huge congratulations, and now we wait for the next awards ceremony. This year, we haven't left a race without a podium finish yet...
David Koželuh finished in 50th place and Dušan Pressl was 60th. However, both improved their times compared to last year, and in their highly competitive categories, these are excellent results.
This week we have the Elnika Milada race coming up, and then it's back to full steam ahead with the Oderská Mlýnice...
